The Attitude of Gratitude

Spirituality No Comments Email This Post Email This Post

We are all provided with so much in life, that however and whatever is the magnitude of our thankfulness to God is less. We need to be thankful for all that we have and all that we are. We tend to take so many things for granted, but never visualize what would happen if we were all not blessed with so many beautiful things. We should be thankful for the beautiful sun that rises every morning for us, giving us new hope in our life everyday. We should be happy for the wonderful organized way the nature and the cosmos works. Everything is so beautifully arranged and planned. There is a 24 hour day. Our solar system has nine planets. The trees grow in their exact defined way. There are four seasons, which keep changing as per their schedule without fail. We should be wonder struck with so many things that happen to us in such organized ways. The most beautiful part is the way the human body works involuntarily. Imagine our state of being, if we were to wake up every morning and had to instruct our lungs to start breathing, or to instruct our stomach and intestine to start digesting food after eating, or if we had to instruct our ears to start listening each time we listened to anybody - imagine, all these things happen so very seamlessly and involuntarily. There is so much beauty in this organized activity. We have so many reasons to be in a state of gratitude in our life, all the time - at every moment.

The Internal, The External and the Problems

Remember, it is within ourselves that lies the problem and the solution. We may be going through the worst phase of life. Things may seem to be very topsy-turvy, and we may seems to think that the nature and God has been ruthless on us. We may think that we are the most unfortunate people in the world. But, we should not forget the fact that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Similarly, the way we articulate the occurrences in our life, so is the way we interpret it, and so is the way we start feeling about it. We may feel some remorse for something, we would have done, and there can an uncanny feeling of being let down by one’s own self. We may seem to blame the entire world for it. We may seem to think that others have had inflicted the problems on us.

Mind, mental formations and the conversions

Spirituality 2 Comments Email This Post Email This Post

This article is an extension of the fact that what we think is what we become. Whenever we think or rather whenever make our mind think, it creates a formation of cloud, which is transmitted to the atmosphere. These cloud always remain in the cosmos, even if we emit and then forget it. These mental formations create an independent existence of its own. It is then, that it becomes separate from the being who generated it. It is like for example - the supreme being created humans and then human start thinking and acting like an individual separate entity. The strength of the mental formation depends on the source of the thoughts and how clearly it is defined.

We humans are a social animal. Everyday, we come across innumerable interactions with known and unknown people. Everybody has their own opinion about how things should work. We, also, as part of society, have to play different roles in every moment of our life. These are certain things which is completely unavoidable in the present era, and that is how it is going to remain. We have a tendency to get influenced by our surroundings, and we allow our surroundings and daily happenings to rule our mind and our thoughts. We allow others thinking to influence our own thinking. As a matter of fact, if you take statistical figures, surprisingly you will find that 99.9% of our thoughts are all about our surroundings, and about our daily chores. No wonder, we never give time to our mind to think the way it should and it is ought to think.

Passion and Detachment - Can they coexist?

Life, Motivational, Spirituality 3 Comments Email This Post Email This Post

Passion and Detachment: Existing together - well, this may seem to be a paradox, and self contradictory in its true essence. Obvious question will be how can we be not attached to something we are passionate about. It is but natural, and some feel that is how it should be. Before going into this question in details, let us try to understand in what terms we are using Passion and Detachment here. Passion is something that you really want to do from your heart, it is something that you would love getting possessed with, something whose mere thought gives you a high. Detachment means not to get attached with things, to separate oneself from one’s activities and not get bogged down by its success or failure. Detachment basically means to maintain a spectator like attitude in life. Now, the million dollar question is - can we be passionate about something, yet remain detached to it? But before this question comes, we have another question in hand - Do we really need to be detached from our passion?

Look for “those signposts” in the road of life

I call these signposts as TSS ( The Spiritual Signals ). In the pathway of our life, we are always provided with these signposts, and then it is left to us to take the right road. I am reminded of a beautiful age old adage:

“God, provide me the courage to change the things I can,

and the courage to accept the things I cannot change,

and the wisdom to know the difference between the two.”

This article is continuation of my last article - “The feel of abundance - the real asset“. Now that we have understood the importance of having a feel of abundance, I will try to enumerate various facets of attracting abundance in life.

I would prescribe the below five fold path to attract abundance in life:

Think Big

The feel of abundance - the real asset

We are really fortunate to have being born as  a human being. We all have taken birth for some special mission - the earlier we realize, the better it is for us. Through us, the universal cosmic principle wants to convey the message of its upteem potential and beauty. Abundance is our real selves - there is no scarcity ever. There is nothing called as ‘recession’ in the world of spiritual realm. We are all one of a kind. We all have the ability to assert our individuality and yet remain connected with the eternal truth.

The world - A reflection of our own thoughts

Take this - “The world around us is nothing but a mere extension of our imagination and thoughts. What we think, what we speak - we become like that.  Our thoughts propel the surrounding around us in such a way, that it gets shaped up in the form we envision. Our thoughts emit vibrations and builts an aura around us, which has such profound effects that it starts manifesting materially. ”

Purpose of Life - A Spiritual Perspective

We often hear people ask,” What is the meaning of life?” or “why are we born on this Earth?” In most cases, we have our own agenda on what our purpose in life is. However, from a spiritual perspective, there are two generic reasons which define the purpose of our lives at the most basic level. They are:

  1. To complete the give-and-take account we have with various people.
  2. To make spiritual progress with the final aim of merging into God and therefore getting out of the cycle of birth and death.
